Outland Denim collaborates with suppliers and optimizes operations to streamline processes, from shipping finished goods to cultivating raw materials like regenerative cotton and managing post-consumer textile waste. The brand conducts annual carbon audits and offsets unavoidable emissions through projects aligned with its broader mission. Extended use of garments is associated with a lower overall carbon footprint, which is why we focus on creating jeans and garments that you will love and wear for longer when cared for properly. This includes washing every 10 wears in cold water, rather than every two.

The overalls are produced in small runs, allowing them to be recut based on real-time demand minimising excess stock.

The makers at Outland Denim are skilled artisans in Cambodia, many of whom are at risk of human trafficking and exploitation. Outland Denim provides fair wages, a supportive work environment, and access to education and healthcare. This commitment empowers these women while fostering positive social impact in their communities through ethical craftsmanship and quality, sustainably made clothing.

The utility overall is made with 100% regenerative cotton, reflecting Outland Denim's commitment to restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering social equity. This cotton is regenagri Content Standard certified.

All threads used in the Denim Utility Overall are Coats EcoVerde—a 100% recycled premium thread made from waste plastic sourced from various industrial and post-consumer origins. The pocket lining consists of 35% recycled polyester. For more information, visit Coats EcoVerde.

Outland Denim has implemented programs for the collection and repurposing of factory floor waste, along with the collection and distribution of “deadstock.” They also facilitate the resale of Outland garments through Airrobe. However, a program for post-consumer waste, such as textile collection and reprocessing, has not yet been established. The brand is currently researching the CO2 efficacy of such programs and exploring other circular economy models.

The Challenges

Sourcing a sustainable option for the elastic shoulder straps and waistband proved challenging. Despite efforts to find reclaimed options in local fabric markets, they were unable to locate suitable materials. Factors such as location and price have made it difficult to implement these sustainable elements into the supply chain.
