Sheree worked closely with the Caddis team to design and refine a sunglass shaped by who she is today: mother, partner, innkeeper, creative, daughter, friend, and a woman in her late 40s embracing new chapters. This has been a considered journey from case to frame and all the touch points in between. Years in the making, we are very proud to introduce “Il Mare,” a sunglass made with upcycled #tide® ocean material, intercepting plastic before it reaches the sea and containing 0% virgin plastic.
Caddis is family and the crew behind the philosophy "Get older. Own it. See stuff." They are turning the tide on cultural perceptions and calling out industries that profit from the fear of getting older. I love that they ask people to aspire to be more of who they are today, and through this collaboration, they have asked me to do just that. The goal was to create a sunglass that is functional, sustainably made, comfortable to wear, made by good people, priced fairly, and of course, looks pretty damn great. The style is classic with throwback references to Lynda Carter’s character Diana Prince in the 70s TV show, Wonder Woman. Aptly named for all the women in my life who have inspired me. The Caddis team went deep into building the right supply chain to bring “Il Mare” to life, working with #tide® to use upcycled ocean plastics to make a superior and lightweight frame, a fully recycled box and polarised lens. I hope you love it as much as Caddis and I have creating it.
"I would change the world's view on aging and say living, instead of asking 'how old are you?' people should ask 'how long have you lived?'"
- Diane von Furstenberg
In this collaboration the goal was to reduce the production of virgin products by up-cycling previous seasons, giving them a second life. Inspired by the life and style of Georgia O’Keeffe as well as time spent traveling through the American Southwest Sheree worked closely with Head designer and Master craftsmen in the Helen Kaminski Atelier to create this three-piece limited edition of bespoke Pure Merino Wool hats.
This was a meeting of minds that wanted to explore the process of up-cycling, without compromising on quality and timeless style. How can we make a hat that uses no virgin materials yet is made from the finest and most sustainable fibres available? The Helen Kaminski brand has long been at the forefront of sustainable practices using only sustainable, renewable, and recyclable materials. Their commitment to designing products that are made to last and made ethically has been a cornerstone of Helen Kaminski which made exploring the reinvention of previous stock an inspiring process in creative problem-solving. The limited-edition Mesa collection breathes new life into the existing without compromise to craftsmanship or design. Reimagined by Sheree Commerford and reinvented in the Helen Kaminski Atelier by master craftsman Gary Bishop we hope you wear your Mesa with love and pride for a very, very long time.
Sheree had a serendipitous meeting with Outland Denim while developing a prototype overall for her professional and personal needs. As she renovated a house, raised a family, and ran a business alongside incredible women who were making, creating, building, and "doing," she envisioned a working uniform that blended style and substance—clothing with a real purpose. Outland Denim’s commitment to their philosophy—"good for humanity, good by nature"—made them the perfect partner to bring the Denim Utility Overall to life. When you purchase this garment, you activate a cycle of freedom for the maker who crafted it.
At the heart of Outland Denim’s philosophy is a support model that empowers the artisans who create the garments. Over the past decade, Outland Denim has worked to help young women and men escape modern slavery, investing in their futures and fostering economic empowerment. The brand believes that fashion can drive social change. By providing a platform for transformation, it elevates both the artisans and the planet. Outland Denim has positioned itself as a leader in global citizenship within the fashion industry, becoming the first Australian denim brand—and the second globally—to achieve B Corp certification. There is nothing more considered than an Outland Denim garment, from ethics through to sustainability. It is an honor to have Canvs Bottega sit alongside their name in this collective endeavor to bring style and substance to your wardrobe. In the words of Outland Denim, every pair of overalls spares the earth and elevates the women who artfully craft each garment, all while making you look (and feel) pretty darn good.
